A Home Information Pack (HIP) will be a legal requirement for anyone wishing to sell a propoerty from the 14th December 2007. The cost and provision of the pack will be the sellers responsibility. You will also need to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which will be included with the HIP. What is in a Home Information Pack (HIP)? As legislation currently stands the following information is included. Index - Should list all document's included in the pack as well as any missing documents that are to be included later. Energy Performance Certificates are valid for 12 months. Why is the government introducing HIPs? The government is introducing HIPs as part of wider reforms to cut carbon emissions from homes and improve home buying and selling. The purpose of the pack is to provide customers with better information early in the process to improve the speed and continuity of transactions and reduce wasted costs.
